Here's the Space News Ride Home for Monday, October twelfth. Austin had a busy afternoon in chips, defense robotics, and battery metals, and the launch board is packed for tonight and tomorrow. Let's go.

We'll open with the Texas Space Ledger. Friday's Microchip deal for VORAGO is still drawing coverage, and today the local and trade press put a Texas stamp on it. The Austin Business Journal reports VORAGO employs about fifty people in Austin and that operations will remain in Texas for now. Semicon Insider published a longer look the same day, leaning hard on Hard Sil, VORAGO's patented process that hardens standard C MOS without a full redesign, and framing the buy as Microchip plugging a gap between expensive legacy aerospace parts and fragile commercial chips. VORAGO chief executive Bernd Lienhard's line about scale and a rapidly growing space market is getting repeated again.

Staying in Austin deep tech, Allen Control Systems and Echodyne announced a strategic collaboration today. Echodyne's newsroom says the deal integrates Echo Shield radar track data into A C S's Bullfrog autonomous weapon station, so the system can spot drones earlier, keep custody of maneuvering targets, and cue standard-issue weapons for a kinetic defeat on land and at sea. Both companies already have awards tied to the Joint Interagency Task Force four oh one Domestic Shield effort, and they plan joint testing and Department of War demos. A C S co-founder Mike Wior said the point is fusing the best sensor data into every engagement, including on-the-move defense.

On A I and defense at national scale, Anduril unveiled Steelfin today, a modular family of surface-to-air interceptors. Breaking Defense reports Anduril is aiming for about one-third the cost of a Patriot PAC-three M S E, with interchangeable boosters and seekers that can be tuned from cheap one-way drones up toward ballistic and hypersonic threats. The company has finished ballistic testing with representative air vehicles, wants flight tests in twenty twenty-seven, and talks about producing multiple thousands a year by late twenty twenty-eight or early twenty twenty-nine, with final integration shared across partners and a lot of work at Arsenal-one in Ohio.

In green transportation and critical minerals, Austin-based EnergyX signed a binding ten-year offtake today with Trafigura for one hundred thousand metric tons of battery-grade lithium. At roughly twenty thousand dollars a ton, both sides put the deal at more than two billion dollars. Trafigura will take lithium carbonate from Project Black Giant in Chile and lithium hydroxide from Project Lonestar in Texas, with a meaningful share aimed at the U S battery supply chain. Trafigura's own release says the offtake supports bankability for EnergyX's U S Export-Import Bank financing path, with commercial-scale targets of twenty twenty-eight in Chile and twenty twenty-nine in Texas.

And a clean update on the Pilot and Tesla truck Megacharger network we flagged this morning. Electrive reports today that the first six Megachargers are now live at a Pilot travel center in Ellabell, Georgia, with twelve more sites under construction. Each stall can deliver up to one point two megawatts on Tesla's V four tech, enough in Tesla's telling to put back most of a Semi's roughly eight hundred kilometer range in about half an hour. Initial Pilot sites are planned across California, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.

No fresh Moon Base Watch item this afternoon beyond what we had this morning on the December first-element target, so we're holding that segment. The launch cadence is the space headline for the next eighteen hours.

Here's the heads-up for tonight and tomorrow. SpaceX is targeting Starlink Group fifteen dash twenty-five from Vandenberg this evening, around seven eleven P M Central, with a window from about six to ten. That's twenty-seven Starlink V two Mini satellites on Falcon nine. Then very early Tuesday, NASA and SpaceX are go for C R S thirty-five, the thirty-fifth commercial resupply to the space station, targeted for five thirty-three A M Central from Cape Canaveral. Dragon is packed with more than sixty-three hundred pounds of cargo, including the final set of station roll-out solar arrays, plus hardware for artificial retinas, three-D heart tissue models, and brain organoids aimed at neurodegenerative disease research. Docking is planned Thursday morning. Also worth a glance: any lender or follow-on offtake noise around EnergyX after today's Trafigura deal.

That's the Space News Ride Home. Thanks for listening.
